Venice Masterplan — masterplanning, Venice

A lagoon-edge island: housing, public space and movement, with water as the primary edge.

Venice Masterplan — aerial site plan of a lagoon-edge island, building footprints, public spaces and water on all sides
The island as a plan — footprints, courts, water on all sides.

Not an object building. A spatial framework for dense housing and public space on an island that floods. Footprints and water are drawn first; the architecture follows that grain.

Venice Masterplan — long section through large-scale housing raised on piled foundations above the water
Long section: housing raised on piles. The water is not a backdrop.

The long section tests the piles and the raised ground. Design research, not a UK planning application.
